EUMW 2025

Utrecht, NL

This year at European Microwave Week 2025, Wupatec will showcase the results of its close collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric through a joint live demonstration. We hope to see you there. Keep updated with our social media!

DEMO 2025

Black Logo Wupatec

This year, we present the results of a strong partnership. Mitsubishi Electric will present its latest GaN power amplifier module, highlighting outstanding efficiency performances. On our side, Wupatec will provide its test solution based on RFSoC, specifically adapted for this type of measurement, to demonstrate these performances in real conditions.

The combination of Mitsubishi Electric’s expertise in Japan and Wupatec’s know-how in France leads to first-time-ever results that pave the way for 5G-Advanced base stations.

In collaboration with AMD, this demonstration integrates the Zynq™ UltraScale+™ RFSoC DFE (evaluation board ZCU670) together with AMD’s DPD and CFR IP. With Wupatec’s firmware, the RFSoC DFE is controlled through the IVCAD Suite Software from Dassault Systèmes (formerly IQSTAR, developed by AMCAD Engineering), enabling a comprehensive characterization of the RF power amplifier module in an environment close to its final radio unit implementation.

Earlier this year, Wupatec and Mitsubishi Electric co-hosted a workshop at IMS 2025, dedicated to the latest advances in RF front-end and digital signal processing technologies.

During this session, we shared our expertise in high-efficiency power amplifier design combined with advanced test platforms. The workshop highlighted how the joint evolution of device technologies and the integration of analog and digital circuits has led to new amplifier architectures capable of meeting today’s demanding system requirements.

Topics included wideband RF PA design, digital integration up to digitally assisted power amplifiers, as well as design and evaluation approaches for 5G-Advanced and 6G base stations.

If you’re interested in learning more about the insights and results presented during this workshop, feel free to reach out to our team.

Abstract:

As the demand for high-speed wireless communication continues to grow, efficient PA design becomes critical for supporting modern communications network infrastructure, especially in the sub-20GHz spectrum (FR1 and FR3 bands). This workshop will delve into comprehensive design and development of power amplifiers (PAs) for sub-20GHz base station applications. The latest processes and technologies will be covered, focusing on semiconductor advances that drive power handling, linearity, and efficiency. Participants will explore theory and modeling principles to predict performance and optimize PA designs for various operational scenarios. The session will also emphasize architecture and design techniques, addressing key challenges such as linearity, efficiency, and bandwidth. Finally, the workshop will cover module design and integration, where participants will learn about packaging considerations and thermal management to ensure optimal performance in real-world deployments. This workshop is ideal for RF engineers, circuit designers, and researchers aiming to enhance their expertise in cutting-edge PA technology for wireless infrastructure. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of key PA architecture and design techniques through interactive sessions with practical case studies.
