Project

Flexible, Sovereign, Green, 5G/6G Next Generation Networks

Following a successful year of development, the project FlexSoGreen remains on track. Yesterday, the consortium met at the Rohde & Schwarz offices in Paris. We would like to thank them for their hospitality and excellent organization.

Key Technical Updates:

  • Spectrum Alignment: Following Arcep’s latest guidelines, the project will operate in the 3.8–4.2 GHz band, France’s primary experimental band for industrial innovation.

  • RFFE Progress: Our work on the 4T4R Radio Unit has advanced significantly. We are integrating our state-of-the-art wideband Doherty Power Amplifier (specifically this one) in our RFFE. This DPE delivers exceptional efficiency across the entire frequency range, which translates to reduced thermal dissipation and lower power consumption for the final system.

  • Digital Progress: In parallel, we are advancing work in the digital domain, having initiated a development on the ZCU670 RFSoC platform with the goal of implementing and testing the O-RAN 7.2a split for 5G, enabling cost-effective and energy-efficient RUs.

  • Next Steps: The next milestone is to deliver the first proof of concept (PoC) of the Radio Unit (RU) and conduct real-world testing, including our first 5G data exchanges.

We look forward to the next phase of integration! Good work to the people involved from XLIM, Dassault Systèmes, Rohde & Schwarz, CISTEME and ABTICS, who keep advancing through the different project milestones, and see you in the next progress meetings!

This project was funded by the French State as part of the France 2030 program.
